Kosovo’s youth team claim first win

Kosovo’s youth team picked-up their first win on Wednesday, defeating Albania 43:10, in the second round of the IHF Trophy Europe tournament.

The win boosted Kosovo’s goal difference in a competition that could be decided on that ratio.

Olis Mulaj top-scored for the home team with 12 goals, whilst for Albania Engjell Mallosi topped the list with five.

In the other group match, Georgia defeated Bulgaria in a dramatic encounter, by a single goal (31:30) in their first outing in the tournament. The defeat struck a blow to Bulgaria who had the perfect start to the tournament with a victory over the home team, on Tuesday.

Sandro Darsania and Vakhtang Khelisufali picked-up 11 and 10 goals, respectively, to help their team to victory. For Bulgaria, Mario Marev led the attack with nine goals.

Great Britain had a rest day ahead of their crucial game with Georgia on Thursday.

The race for the first place in the U18 age group is now open and unpredictable with four teams on 2 points each.

In Thursday’s other match Albania faces Bulgaria.
