Georgia are youth champions

Georgia are the 2022 IHF Trophy for the European zone in the Youth Category.

In the last and decisive match, Georgia’s u18 national team defeated Kosovo, 27:22, to take the championship title with a perfect run – four wins from as many games.

The winner decided in the second half after the teams were locked at 14:14 at the break. The home team pushed the champions but, in the end, Georgia made better use of their chances to win the match and tournament title.

Georgia started the competition on the second day and went on to defeat Bulgaria (31:30), Great Britain (37:25), Albania (38:13), and the home team (27:22) in their quest for the title.

Bulgaria wins silver, Kosovo bronze

In the other u18 match of the final day, Bulgaria defeated Great Britain 37:25 to take the silver medal.

Bulgaria finished the tournament with 6 points, while Kosovo took out the Bronze medal with 4 points. Great Britain has 2 points, while Albania remained last with no points.

Georgia will now move on to the Intercontinental phase of the tournament, where they will meet other regional champions for a chance to qualify for the 2023 Youth World Championship.
