Kosova will once again host the junior and youth IHF Trophy competition for the European zone.
From 10 to 16 October, the IHF Trophy competitions in the junior and youth categories will be held in Prishtina.
The national teams of Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Georgia, Ireland, Moldova and Malta have been invited to this important competition for the development of handball. Most of the teams are expected to attend.
For the Kosovo national teams, this competition is important, following a long period of disconnect from the international handball scene as a result of the pandemic. Kosovo’s national teams regularly appear in European championships, but an additional championship would be welcome for our young handball players.
Kosovo naturally aims for success in the IHF Trophy for Europe. The winner of the IHF Junior and Youth Trophy qualifies for the intercontinental stage. Meanwhile, the winner of the intercontinental stage secures the ticket to the World Championshoip.
Through this competition, in 2019, Kosovo U21 men’s selection qualified for the Junior World Championship in Spain, writing history.
Players born in 2002 and younger play in juniors. Meanwhile, players born in 2004 and younger play in the youth category.
These age groups of Kosovo have presented Kosovo in the European Championships this summer.
